A week end in Lyon

At the beginning of November, I went down to Haute-Savoie to see my friend Boaimes for our birthdays and we took advantage of this moment to make a short week end in Lyon. Here are some pictures and good spots that I discovered !

Week end in Lyon : transportation

From Paris, Lyon is very accessible – both by plane and by train. For this trip, I went through the website OUIGO which offers affordable prices for this type of trip. From the Marne-la-Vallée TGV station, the Lyon St Exupéry train station is 1h45 minutes to 2h from Paris. The ride is really fast, which is nice.

From the station, you can reach the center of Lyon by public transportation but personally, I was lucky to have my friend pick me up by car !

Week end in Lyon : accommodation

This was my birthday surprise, Boaimes had booked a nice room in a downtown hotel. We were in the Mercure Centre Beaux Arts. We found a very comfortable and beautifully decorated hotel. In addition, we enjoyed an excellent breakfast.

The hotel staff was very caring and guided us in discovering the city, as well as providing us with some good addresses.

Week end in Lyon : food

We discovered three very nice spots. The first is a fast food of very good quality where everything is made home : King Marcel. I enjoyed a vegetarian burger where even the vegetable pancake is homemade : a delight ! The fries and the homemade lemonade were just to die for…And I discovered that there were King Marcel in Paris, you can be sure that I will return with appetite !

After the burger, we had a little tea time at Coney Cookies. The place is very cozy and nicely decorated. I also remember some DIY ideas that I spotted in the shop !

The restaurant where we dined is the Pizza Papa in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon. Another nice discovery. The homemade pizzas were delicious and the vegetarian was one of the best I’ve eaten : original with colorful flavors.

Week end in Lyon : the program

With Boaimes, we just wanted to discover the city and walk around. After leaving our things at the hotel, we left for Place Bellecour. Then we decided to cross the Bonaparte bridge and go explore the old Lyon. Our first stop was for lunch at King Marcel (4 rue du Palais de Justice 69005 Lyon). Saint Jean street swarmed with people – especially with the beautiful sun that we had in early November. The terraces were full and it was only happiness to be able to enjoy such a mild weather at this time of the year !

After lunch, we made a small autumn shoot on Sathonay place. Afterwards, to warm us up, it was tea time at Coney Cookies.

We crossed the Feuillée bridge and then we went to the Place de la Comedie to discover the Hotel de Ville. and explore the shopping streets before we get ready for dinner.

The stay was express but fun and allowed us to spend time with girls – which is always good!
