If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I mostly use powder foundations because of perioral dermatitis. At the end of the year, I tested a sample of the Chanel Ultra Le Teint Velvet and I liked it so much that I fell in love with the full size. I’m sharing with you everything you need to know and my review on this product !

Chanel Ultra Le Teint Velvet

Velvet foundation is a foundation that is intended to be long-lasting, smoothing and unifying the complexion.

It has the Perfect Skin Affinity complex which acts like a second skin and gives radiance throughout the day to the complexion.

The formula contains “blurring effect” powders selected by the Chanel Laboratories. These will smooth out surface irregularities and instantly smooth pores.

The perfect Light Control complex combines two semi-transparent hemispherical powders that unify pigment spots and reduce redness, without any caky or mask effect.

Velvet foundation therefore proposes to unify the complexion, while providing radiance and a natural mat velvet finish.

The foundation is available in 15 shades (depending on the sale’s point) and is particularly suitable for normal to combination skin.

How to use the Velvet Chanel foundation ?

Before applying the product, it is necessary to shake the bottle well in order to homogenize the texture. When the ball can’t be heard, the ultra-light formula is ready.

This foundation is applied after our daily skincare (day cream). Chanel recommends an application without a sponge or brush. You just have to use the pads of your fingers to blend the product onto the skin…But I have to admit that I like using my Beautyblender with it. The finish is smooth and unified.

Remember to always start from the inside of the face outwards. Remember to work well at the hairline, ears and neck to avoid demarcations.

Depending on the areas of the face, it is possible to modulate the coverage by working with small touches of the face or to use it as a complexion corrector (like a corrector / concealer) on the areas of imperfections.

My opinion on the Chanel foundation

I selected the shade BR32 which is a pinkish beige. It was the shade that came closest to my natural skin tone when I went to the store.

I like the compact packaging of the product and the fact that the bottle is secure and sturdy enough for everyday use, without the hassle.

The lightness of the formulation is a real plus. The product doesn’t choke the skin and provides light to medium coverage depending on how you apply the product. The hold is good – the places where the mask is in contact with the skin will create a little transfer but if I compare to a more fluid and satin foundation, the hold is better.

I appreciate that it is not necessary to powder the product. Yes in the video, I do use a touch of white powder to make sure I don’t have shine areas for the photos / videos. Without powder, the finish is velvety to the sight but also to the touch.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a light, matte, natural and luxurious everyday foundation, do not hesitate to discover the Velvet foundation !

So far, I have not had any skin reactions related to perioral dermatitis. If that changes, I’ll give you an update in the article.
