Tarte Cosmetics launched in France in spring – new that stirred the whole beauty sphere on the web. This brand is one that made me the most of the eye and I am delighted to finally discover it.
Tarte Cosmetics : the brand
Tarte Cosmetics is an American cosmetics brand founded in 1999 by Maureen Kelly. The first product that has emerged is a blush (cheek ink). Indeed, in college, she decided to pursue her interest in cosmetics because she could not find an effective makeup that pleased her. Maureen wanted a natural makeup that gave a glamorous look.
At the release of her first product, beauty reporters were curious about this new invention a week after its launch at Henri Bendel in 2000. In 2003, Sephora became its most famous selling point.
The brand offers vegan friendldy products, cruelty free (non-tested on animals), hypoallergenic, soy-free and gluten-free (big trend across the Atlantic).
Tarte has a wide range of skincares and makeup with prices ranging from twenty to fifty euros for some pallets or skincare. The make-up products are suitable for both fair and mixed skin – especially with thirty shades available for their concealer and foundation.
The brand’s website now offers a delivery in France. Sephora welcomed in store Tarte Cosmetics in the spring and also has its products available online.
Tarte Cosmetics : my makeup test
I was able to try two products of the brand: a palette and a foundation.
Tartelette Palette in Bloom
This palette consists of 12 shades, divided into three lines of four shades. Each line is supposed to help you in the composition of a look with each time a shimmery shade and three mats that can both be used to blend, create a smokey effect or be used as a liner.
Shades range from golden to copper to pink nudes – a perfect combination for everyday use.
The colors are all well pigmented and blend perfectly with each other. It’s a real pleasure to wear makeup. Indeed, the formula includes Amazonian clay that allows a smooth and intense smearing.
The packaging is also well thought out with a relatively compact format for twelve colors and a large mirror very practical.
Amazonian Clay Foundation
This foundation is a famous product from Tarte Cosmetics. This product comes in 40 shades so it allows all women to find the right shade for their complexion.
As for eyeshadow, the foundation is formulated with their powerful ingredient : amazonian clay. This oil-free liquid matte foundation offers medium to full coverage that breathes and balances.
The texture is quite thick but melts relatively quickly on the skin. I like to use my Elle brush or a wet beauty blender to apply it. The complexion is unified and bright. Even if the finish is matte, the complexion remains fresh. Its lasting is good and does not run in fine lines.
If you have oily or combination skin, this type of product will be perfectly suited. The clay makes it possible to rebalance the skin and control excess sebum.
