Blushbaby

The urge for a new blush and eventually find her own happiness.

MAC Blushbaby (22€)

It’s been a while since I wanted a new blush. The summer ended, creams formulas are leaving my beauty stash to let powder have some room. So I switched few products to put myself in the rythme of the autumnal atmosphere and when I looked at my blushes, a great lack of inspiration came over me. Between pink and plum, I had the impression of having seen it all. The products that I’m owning are still in my heart but I wanted to try something new, discover a shade as I didn’t have in my collection and I had not yet dared to go.

Sunday I was with Paule MK  for a girl afternoon and inevitably, we endend up in Sephora. I had in mind some brands and shades that I had spotted on the website but in the end, it’s in the MAC counter I found my happiness (NB: in the Sephora Champs Elysées, you have the brand MAC. It’s pretty rare).

You will perhaps not believe me but I never bought anything from MAC … Well, an angled brush maybe 10 years ago and I also recently lost it. I always wanted to try some things from this brand but when you don’t have a store nearby, we tend to forget about it!

What steps to find a blush?

When we begin to have a « small » makeup collection, I think it’s important to try avoiding very similar products. The world of makeup is extremely rich with sometimes from one brand to another, strongly resembling products. So when I consider a purchase, I look at what I have in my drawers: the shades, formulas, textures, etc. Then, I think about what I would want/like. The goal is to find a compromise between our personal style and the purchase of a new product without falling into the same (says the one with x pink lipsticks –  similar but different at the same time)!

In my case, I wanted a powder blush with a matte formula in a slightly wooden pink shade with a little cold spirit in order to wear it for the upcoming months without getting bored.

Although that internet offers plethora of choices, I like to swatch products in store. See how the texture melts on my skin, how the shade will go on with my features: eyes, skin tone, etc.

The new one!

My choice went on Blushbaby from MAC. Its formula is matte without any glitter or shimmer: that’s exactly what I had in mind. The shade is near a rosewood but with a very light bluish undertone. On the skin, the finish is natural and fresh.

I love the product name: I find it fun and cheeky!

I really look forward of using it and (surely) to get back to you!
