Today, I wanted to share with you my latest accessory crush : The Marc Jacobs Softshot crossbody handbag. I’ll share a little look with this handbag and what I think about it. I bought this bag for my birthday. And you, do you sometimes give yourself gifts for your birthday or Christmas ?
Marc Jacobs Softshot : the trendy crossbody handbag
A few years ago, the Marc Jacobs house launched a whole new range of crossbody handbags with its new logo : the ultra design version double J. This crossbody handbag is available in two sizes :
- the Snapshot and
- the Softshot.
The two models are quite similar – the major difference is their size. The Snapshot is the smallest (H 10.5 x W 18 x D 6 cm) and the Softshot the largest (H 14 x W 22 x D 8 cm).
The Marc Jacobs Softshot bag is a satchel bag in cowhide leather. My model is in grained leather and this model is available with many different materials and styles. The shoulder strap can be worn on the shoulder or crossed. This bag consists of two zippered compartments with long logo and oversized pulls. The rear compartment has an applique pocket for cards. At the back of the bag, a flat pocket can be used to store your transport ticket, for example.
The hardware (the metal parts) quite present on this model gives it a somewhat streetwear effect that I quite like – especially since it is worn rather high on the body.
Its price is 390€ for the simple leather model, the more elaborate models will be in the 400€.
How to accessorize your outfits ?
For the record, I fell in love with this bag and in particular with this color following a mega crush on a velvet stole from OGGI in the same tones. I bought the stole after the bag but as I was obsessed with this color, I saw it everywhere when I went for a shopping trip to La Vallée Village ! I really like this bag which changes from what I usually wear. As I said, there is a little more streetstyle side that I find cool and interesting to wear on a daily basis. Its size is ideal, practical for every day. At the same time, this model can very well accessorize an evening outfit (not that we can go out a lot with lockdown…).
To accessorize my outfits, I like to create both harmony but also bring that little touch of extra that will make my look – as simple as it is, to stand out. I use the jewelry, stoles, and handbags to do the job.
For this fall look, I was dressed in a black sweater dress and I bet everything on the accessories to brighten it all up. Obviously, the pieces de resistance are the velvet stole and the handbag in this beautiful turquoise blue, almost icy shade. This color will highlight my eyes and my complexion without washing me off. The game of textures between velvet and leather allows to bring depth to the whole.
As the hardware of this bag is in gold, I bet on gold jewelry. Personally, I think we can separate the gold/silver hardware with the jewelry. We can harmonize them but I think that is not an obligation – moreover, these days, creators mix the colors of hardwares so… anything is possible !
